ENVIRONMENTAL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM AGREEMENT SIGNED BY KEHATI FOUNDATION, STAR ENERGY, AND KPH GARUT

At the KPH Garut office in West Java (30/1), the KEHATI Foundation, Star Energy, and KPH Garut signed an environmental partnership program agreement for a duration of two years. This initiative encompasses the Papandayan/Darajat protected forest and the natural tourism park area in the Garut Regency. The West Java BBKSDA, BP DAS, LMDH, Muspida, Muspika, local NGOs, and Islamic boarding schools are just a few of the various stakeholders that KEHATI will work with during its implementation.
The program’s goals include protecting forests, empowering local communities through eco-friendly agroforestry farming initiatives, and keeping an eye on important creatures including leopards, Javan gibbons, and a number of other endangered unique species.
The principal responsibility of the Garut KPH, according to the administrator of Perum Perhutani/KPH Garut Nugraha, is forest rehabilitation, in addition to the rubber industry. The Pasirwangi Village region is not included in the 7,000-hectare forest rehabilitation area, though. KPH Garut therefore appreciates the partnership with Star Energy and the KEHATI Foundation.
Dali Mulia, the coordinator for Star Energy’s social performance, is happy to be able to help protect the environment and carry out community empowerment initiatives in the Perhutani region. Through the program being run alongside Perhutani and the KEHATI Foundation over the next two to three years, Star Energy intends to win over the public’s trust.
Riki Frindos, executive director of the KEHATI Foundation, concluded by saying that the program being operated by Star Energy and KPH Garut is consistent with KEHATI’s vision, which is to manage natural resources in a way that fosters justice, sovereignty, and sustainability.
