ORANGUTAN CARTOON COMPETITION
‘PROTECT OUR HOME’ 2023
Orangutans are one of the unique and iconic species from Indonesia which have the closest kinship with humans. Unfortunately, the orangutan population has decreased drastically in the last century. The main cause of the threat to the orangutan population is deforestation and habitat destruction due to forest conversion for agricultural lands.
Orangutans are also the target of poaching where the mother orangutans are generally killed and the baby orangutans are taken to be kept as pets through the animal trade. Losing orangutans will result in the extinction of other species. Orangutans are like “gardeners” for forest ecosystems who help spread the seeds of the fruit of the plants they eat.
So, it’s time for those of you who love and care about the environment, have a hobby of doodling and drawing cartoons to participate in saving these cute animals with your best work. The hope is that your work can touch people’s concern for orangutans and of course for the preservation of our beloved earth. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s join…!
